Fast Friday Report - September 22nd
PJ Conquers All in Tough Week #4 Route scoring an impressive 27 points. When the Jersey was on the line, PJ actually cranked up Rock Store in a sub-16 minute time to score some needed points (if PJ starts to climb...we're all dead!).
The climbers (favorites for the day) worshiped PJ at his feet in his Greek God pose (this picture is posted in Westlake Cyclery).
I'm throwing down the guantlet right now to Mark, Gary, Dan, etc. to start coming back and try to dethrone this mammoth of a man.
Also shown is a picture of me with the Jersey on. This should be an inspiration to all that you always have a chance on FF.
Some new rule changes are being discussed for October....please comment:
1. You cannot win FF if you come in last on either Rock Climb or Power Climb. This will keep riders (like PJ, Tod, etc.) from dogging it up the climbs to perserve for Sprint #3 and the Finish. This always gives incentive to some of the other slower hill climbers to bury a potential points leader on the climbs and take away their win for the day.
2. Change the scoring on the Finish to 5-4-3-2-1 (this totally screws me but I'm all for more FF'ers feeling like they have a better chance to win the day.
5 Comments:
It never crossed my mind that FF would ever degenerate into a Bachanalian rite...especially with with Tod at the helm. Gentlemen, this appears to be documented evidence of true Hero worship. Is PJ our Persius? Achilles? Hercules? PJ and the Golden Fleece-it actually has a nice ring to it!

Jack, You will notice that neither you nor I were engaged in any kind of false idol worship. But to pick a greek mythological creature for PJ..we have to go with the centaur (see definition below) basically because they were known to be uncouth and savage (or the modern version of Man with Horse's Ass)
(sn´tôr) (KEY) , in Greek mythology, creature, half man and half horse. The centaurs were fathered by Ixion or by Centaurus, who was Ixion’s son. Followers of Dionysus, they were uncouth and savage, but some, such as Chiron, became friends and teachers of men. Their half-brothers, the Lapiths, engaged them in a battle that was described by Ovid, depicted on the Parthenon, and sculpted by Michelangelo.

I certainly would place my vote for the FF rule changes, but as a climber, this is probably obvious.

Hey... Lets try changing the Decker points to 7,5,3,2,1......Anthony, you would have taken the Dots if you were on time.....

Tod, I applaud your suggestion of the centaur. Rumour has it that PJ has another characteristic consistent with centaur anatomy...and I'm not talking about large flanks.
Regarding the rule changes, since I will probably be walking my bike down Decker for the forseeable future, they look good to me.
